One Direction will be keeping Aussie fans Up All Night on August 12, with reports the swoon-worthy boyband will feature in the London Olympics closing ceremony.

According to The Mirror, Niall, Liam, Harry, Zayn and Louis will take to the stage with pal Ed Sheeran, who wrote track 'Moments' on their debut album as part of the star-studded finale.

Also rumoured to perform in the ceremony are The Who, Take That, Queen and the Spice Girls (reunited, again).

"Don't know if it's just me, but the excitement in London is unbelievable! It's gonna be a great games," Niall tweeted, but there's still no official word on whether he and the other 1D boys will perform.

A spokesperson for the band refused to comment on their involvement in the closing ceremony. We'll just have to wait and see...
