Gotye's mammoth hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' has finally ended its eight-week reign on the US charts, beaten out of the number one spot by Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe'.

Gotye, real name Wally De Backer, became the first Australian in over a decade to top the Billboard Hottest 100. 'Somebody That I Used To Know' is also the second longest reigning Australian song of all time, beaten only by Olivia Newton-John's single 'Physical' in 1981.

After four weeks of steadily gaining success, Carly Rae broke through and conquered the Gotye's duet with Kimbra.

The song is still the most played single on Australian radio, something which Gotye joked about during his APRA Award acceptance speech in Sydney, earlier this year.

"Sorry for those people who listen to commercial radio and had to listen to it fifty times a day at their workplace. The song's been played a lot, I know," he said.

Last week Gotye released a remix album of 'Somebody That I Used To Know' featuring versions by M-Phazes, Sneaker Fox and Gang Colour.
