'Crass and insensitive': Madonna waved fake guns on stage hours after Batman massacre
Bad taste: Madonna's gun games at her London show last week.

Madonna has come under fire again for another on-stage controversy from her MDNA tour.

The 53-year-old singer has been called "crass and insensitive" for flaunting fake guns at her Scotland show on Saturday, just hours after the tragic US cinema massacre.

Madonna defied the advice of local police not to use prop pistols and AK47 assault rifles at her Edinburgh concert 36 hours after the tragedy, in which a gunman killed 12 people and injured 58 at a midnight screening of the latest Batman film in Denver.

"Madonna would rather cancel her show than censor her art," one of the singer's tour staff told the Huffington Post. "Her entire career, she has fought against people telling her what she can and cannot do. She's not about to start listening to them now."

Before the performance, Madonna apparently joked that her show might be "cut off" because of the ban on fake firearms, Scottish newspaper The Daily Record reports.

The Colorado shooting amplified a fake weapon ban that was already in place out of respect to the 1996 Dunblane massacre, in which 16 children were gunned down at a Scottish school.

Scottish politician Graeme Pearson called the Material Girl "crass and insensitive", adding that "with Scotland’s own gun tragedy at Dunblane, she should have known better".

"Madonna and her dancers using replica guns was always in bad taste, but given what happened in Colorado it is even worse. She should know better," a spokeswoman for activist group Mothers Against Guns told Daily Record.

Madonna won't face any legal action for the gun show. She takes her world tour to Dublin today.

The Queen of Pop's other MDNA antics include pointing a gun at her head, and using swastika imagery on the face of a French politician:

Not to mention showing her nipple at a show in Istanbul:

And playing what some called the "worst gig ever" in London:
