Mamma monster announced the revolutionary name to her 27.8 million Twitter followers, providing context for the 'ARTPOP' tattoo she unveiled last week.
While it seems obvious Gaga's new offering will provide fans with a hefty dose of those weird yet catchy tunes they so adore, she claims not all is as it seems.
"ARTPOP could mean anything," the singer explained mysteriously.
Given that explanation, we're thinking there could be some Andy Warhol-inspired stuff in Gaga's new material.
Hats off to the woman if she can pull that off — we're at a loss as to how a canvas of Campbell's tinned tomato soup could become a song.
There's also a bit of confusion over whether this is going to be an album at all, given Gaga called it an "album/project”. One Twitter follower debated, "But didn't she say we'd get the title in September? I think ARTPOP is more likely to be a song title or concept rather than an album title."
One thing's for sure, though, Gaga has specified that 'ARTPOP' must be spelt-out in capital letters.
"Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALISE the title, *it's all in the details*," she tweeted.
