Madonna supports jailed Russian band during Moscow concert

Madonna has thrown her support behind jailed Russian punk-rock band Pussy Riot, performing in Moscow with their name written on her back.

In March, three women from the band were arrested and charged with hooliganism during an improvised concert in Moscow’s main cathedral.

During her Tuesday night concert, Madonna said she would pray for the band members, who now face up to seven years imprisonment, before exposing her bare back, which had "Pussy Riot" written on it.

To really hammer the point home, Madonna slipped on a ski mask and performed her 1995 hit 'Human Nature' (the Russian band has been known to perform wearing similar masks).

Madonna isn't the first foreign artist to speak up, with Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kate Nash, Sting, Yoko Ono and Peaches also lending their public support to the band.
