Britain's singing greats came together for a stellar musical medley at the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games. George Michael, Annie Lennox, Liam Gallagher, Russell Brand … wait, Russell Brand?

The UK comedian, who isn't known for his musical ability, led an entire singing segment — by megaphone! Starting out with a song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the tight-trousered star was joined by a bunch of girating hippie chicks for a rendition of the Beatles hit 'I Am the Walrus'.

But opinion was divided over Russell's singing skills (or was that lip synching?).

"Since when did Russell Brand sing and who even invited him to the Olympics?" tweeted one viewer.

"I think it's all clear that Russell Brand was definitely the highlight of the closing ceremony #hecanwillymywonkaanyday," tweeted a seemingly impressed fan.

In a later act, viewers did a double take at UK singer Jessie J looking remarkably similar to Russell's ex-wife Katy Perry.
