Mariah Carey announces first Australian tour in 15 years

It’s been a long wait for devoted Mariah Carey fans, but the pop diva and American Idol judge is finally heading to back Australia to kick off the New Year with a bang.

Starting off at Jupiters on the Gold Coast on January 1 and heading to Sydney on January 3, promoters have promised an extravagant pop spectacular.

"It's going to be a very high-production show, featuring all her greatest hits and some of her Christmas songs," said promoter Mark Rafter of UAE Presents.

Want to feel old? New York-based Mariah, 43, hasn’t toured Australia since 1998, off the back of her Butterfly album. With a career spanning 20 years and more than 200 million records, that’s a long time between drinks.

Tickets will go on sale on Thursday November 22 through Ticketek. Pricing starts at $99 all the way up to $699 for a VIP seat and meet-and-greet.
