Katy Perry censored in Saudi Arabia

They don't seem to like Katy Perry much in Saudi Arabia.

Susie's Big Adventure — the blog of an American woman living in the Middle-Eastern country — has revealed some not-so-subtle censorship of Katy's debut album One of the Boys. The regular album cover is up there on the left; the Saudi version is up there on the right. Spot the difference!

No, Katy's new, less revealing outfit in the right-hand picture isn't a clever Photoshop job... it's literally been drawn on with a red texta.

"The Saudi government is actually paying religious police members of the Committee for the Protection of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (CVPVP) to remove the plastic wrap from these CDs, open up the CD cases, remove the front and back inserts, and carefully and painstakingly colour in with a marker any photos baring exposed female flesh that is deemed objectionable," explains Susie.

That seems like a lot of effort to go to. We hate to think what the Saudis would make of the skanky-and-proud-of-it Lady GaGa...
