Nick Cave can’t stand still – he has to be one of the most hyperactive artists in the Australian scene. And, for the past 15 years, multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis has played a part in almost all of his music projects – from The Bad Seeds to Grinderman.
White Lunar, out on September 18th, compiles some of the music Cave and Ellis wrote for the films The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Proposition – for which Cave also wrote the screenplay. The double CD set also includes music the pair composed for the yet unreleased John Hillcoat’s film The Road – based on Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
Moreover, White Lunar also features the musicians’ contribution to Geoffrey Smith’s The English Surgeon and Matthew Watson’s The Girls of Phnom Penh documentaries, and four pieces from their archives (“Magma”, “Zanstra”, “Halo” and “Daedalus”).
