Video: Alicia Keys and Jay-Z heart NYC

It's rare that a day goes by and I don't wish that I'm back in New York City (it really is the greatest city in the world). So I simultaneously love and hate Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' new track 'Empire State of Mind'.

I love it because it's a reminder what a glamorous, incredible, super-cool place New York is. (That, and it's a catchy song.) I hate it because it makes me want to go there right now. (Would anyone like to volunteer to pay for my plane ticket? Anyone?)

Apparently the song is getting play all over New York right now — no surprise. Check out the all-new clip in the full post and pretend you're there.

Australian Idol: Top 4 - Noughties This episode kicks off with a shocking moment, which is itself shocking in a season that's generally been pretty ho-hum: Toby has decided to pull out of the competition! Because he's more passionate about schoolteaching than he is about a career in the music industry. I suspect the real reason he's dropped out is because he's run out of a droopy British ballads to sing.

Read the full post for more on Toby's unexpected decision.

Quiz: Guess the band minus the frontman! , There's probably a song featuring the musical talents of Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion on your MP3 player — you just don't know it.

"Um, who the hell are those guys?" you might be asking. Well, they're the non-Chris Martin members of Coldplay, and despite being part of one of the biggest bands on the planet you likely wouldn't recognise them if you passed them in the street.

(Unless, of course, you're some sort of Coldplay uber-fan; if this is the case, please refrain from leaving a snotty "I can't believe you don't know who Jonny, Guy and Will are, YOU MUSICAL PHILISTINE"-type comment.)

What other megabands become unrecognisable once you eliminate their frontman? Or are you such a music genius you can pick a group even without their lead singer? Read the full post to test your knowledge in our quiz!

This could get ugly: Taylor Swift and Kanye West to reunite? Sparks might fly if Taylor Swift is reunited with her nemesis Kanye West in the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live.

Perez sez the producers of the long-running sketch-comedy are frantically trying to book a "surprise" cameo from Kanye when Taylor hosts the show this week.

Yeah, that's a great plan — giving Kanye yet another opportunity to upstage poor Taylor.

Actually, the reunion would probably turn out to be pretty boring — Taylor would be all polite and forgiving, and Kanye would be all apologetic and humble (or as least as humble as a bighead like Kanye can get). Snooze! I want blood!

Australian Idol: Top 5 - contestants' choice You know what's kind of ironic? That the judges are always getting stuck into the contestants about their song choices... and then the actual producers go and pick The Script's tune 'Before the Worst' for this week's group routine. Look, I have nothing against The Script — but as an opening number for a reality karaoke show, they suck.

Speaking of Idol producers making bad decisions: the theme of this episode is "Contestants' Choice", a revelation that'd make me furious if I were actually emotionally invested in this season. Couldn't they have picked an exciting, original theme? How about Mash-ups, or Duets? Or even something generic like R&B or Beatles or anything that isn't completely boring? Seriously, it's like the producers are determined to make the show as bland as possible this year.

Anyway. The next 10 minutes is devoted to a boring recap of last week's episode (which only serves as a reminder that Liza Minnelli won't be around to liven things up this week). I tune back in for the elimination: James, Kate and Stan are in the bottom three. Dicko predicts James will go, but the kid is safe — thank god — and Kate is booted.

Exclusive: sneak peek of the Michael Jackson concert that never was Michael Jackson's death suddenly seems a million times sadder after watching this behind-the-scenes footage of his concert rehearsals. It's clear that the concerts — which would've been staged in London from July '09 — would have been effing awesome.
