In 1999, the image of a 17-year-old Britney in a skimpy outfit on the cover of Rolling Stone freaked out the American Family Association, who called the shot "a disturbing mix of childhood innocence and adult sexuality", urging "God-loving Americans to boycott stores selling Britney's albums."
